Baltimore is in the county of Maryland in the USA and founded in 1729. Main Street holds many events throughout the year so do check what is on during your visit.
For a little more history a visit to Fort McHenry is a must see. During the war of 1812 this fort prevented the British from advancing into the city. Later it was used as a military prison and it has been designated not only as a historic monument but also as a historic shrine. It is open to the public all year round and has a fascinating visitors center. If you are visiting in September then don't miss Defenders Day when there are various ceremonies to celebrate the defense of Baltimore.
